Where would you like to have a beer?

I remember one of the first times I walked into the Blue Tusk in Syracuse. They proudly displayed a list of best beer spots in the world, where they were ranked very highly, 48th to be exact. Now, sure, 48 isn't very high, but remember, we're talking about a bar in Syracuse, and it's one of the best places to have a beer in the world. High praise.

I took a look at that list, and chuckled. Although I do like making lists and checking them off (Every brewery/brewpub in New York? yep, well on-track there), this list would never see much progress made. Until I looked it up recently, and realized I have actually put a good dent in it so far. This list is All About Beer's Growler List: 125 Places to Have a Beer Before you Die.

The progress?
9. Monk’s Café, Philadelphia, PA
18. Horizon’s Café, CN Tower, Toronto, Ontario (Technically, I didn't have a beer, but I have been here, and had beer within an hour of being there, so I'm counting it)
48. The Blue Tusk, Syracuse, NY
65. F.X. Matt Brewery Tasting Room, Utica, NY
86. Brewery Ommegang, Cooperstown, NY
97. Clark’s Ale House, Syracuse, NY
113. beerbistro, Toronto, Canada

Without even trying I have knocked out quite a few on the list. A few(notably, everyone in New York) that haven't been knocked out are planned ventures. No, this doesn't mean I've resolved to clean out the list. It's a big list, and let's face it, unless I have to be 200, I won't be able to make it to most of them. But, it did raise the interesting question...

Where would you like to have a beer?
-Great American Beer Fest. I think the name says it all, it would be wonderful to have a beer at the GABF.
-Seattle. I wasn't a beer drinker when I was last in Seattle. I'd like to go back and explore what my favorite city has to offer.
-London. A pint in London is definitely on the list.
-Dublin. My wife's parents met at the Guinness brewery. Seems only fitting, doesn't it?
-Tokyo. I just really want to visit Tokyo, and from what I understand, they have some pretty good beer.

And what about you, where would you like to have a beer?

First Thought

Since starting the now defunct Beer Blog nearly three years ago, I never had a clear focus of where I was going with it. Was it a local brews news blog? A travel blog? A discussive blog? I tried them all, and was never really happy with how it was going. Mostly because I always thought I was ignoring one aspect of it. Thus, since Devon has expressed a desire to become a part of a beer travel blog, I have decided to do what I really enjoyed from the previous blog, a thought blog, and focus on that. So, here it is.

Random thoughts on the world of brewing.
